I always felt that this was more him letting Elizabeth down gently, like "it's not you, it's me", because she was well on the way to liking him A LOT.Īs for the word 'triumph', it was used metaphorically, in my opinion.Īpart from that, while much emphasis is placed on the impropriety of Col. His mentioning to Elizabeth that he can’t marry a woman of little fortune I've watched it twice and will probably watch it again one day. The ladies' hairstyles were pretty bad too.Īnyway, what do you all think? The reviews were abysmal, but there were things about this miniseries I enjoyed. Jane barely made an appearance and Mr.I kept thinking she and the actress playing Louisa Bidwell ought to have switched parts. Eleanor Tomlinson is beautiful, but she carries herself poorly and I found it very distracting given that the Darcys are meant to look so regal and haughty at first glance. I did not care for Georgianna's melodramatic love triangle. This storyline did Colonel Fitzwilliam dirty.I never can decide how I think she'll turn out as she gets older and realizes whom she's married. Lydia was extremely pretty and shown to be self-aware which was an interesting take.

I also enjoyed the way they explored Darcy's disappointment and hurt regarding the betrayals of someone with whom he was once so close. I liked that they made him a war hero (some people pull through at the most unexpected times). We finally got a Wickham that was handsome and charming enough to believably be such a terrible cad.She seems to be a relatively easy character to handle because I enjoy every actress's interpretation of her. I also thought the story did a good job at exploring what some of the insecurities in their marriage might be. Although Elizabeth and Darcy at first seem severely miscast, I did love their chemistry.
